Pre-flop: ($0.75, 6 players) Hero is UTG+1
UTG raises to $1.75, Hero raises to $6, 4 folds, UTG calls $4.25
Standard raise vs Lag who I think can hand read. UTG was running at 32/29/6 over 75 hands. (I wasn't focus on his stats at the time. A leak of mine)
Flop: ($12.75, 2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks
I check behind trying to be tricky and for pot control because we were over 150 deep. I didn't want to play for stacks with just an over pair. He could had done this with 22-10, AQo, KQo, JQo or just caled preflopl and try to outplay me post flop with nothing. He could also be on a flush draw and check raise me off my hand.
Turn: ($12.75, 2 players)
UTG bets $8, Hero calls $8
I call for pot control. I could raise but he would just fold all hands he would be doing this with.
River: ($28.75, 2 players)
UTG checks
Should I bet thinly (how much?) or check behind? We are both over 150bb deep

I like a bet on this flop. I think checking here with the intention to be tricky is just FPS. I have always been told to go with TPTK or an overpair in a 3-bet pot about 90% of the time, with exceptions to me being hands like 1010 on a rag flop when I did not 3-bet, situations like that may be different. However, this also pertains IMO to 100BB stacks, not ~ 200. As played, I don't see a good LAG checking an A or a 7 here. I would be something like $12 into this pot, hoping to get called with a Q.
Btimm,
I think this is FPS. In one of Brian Townsends video, he said to just keep betting until Villain shows you he can check raise flops. I hadn't seen him c/r yet so I should had betted.
I also agree that a good lag wouldn't check a 7 or A on the river. He probably puts me on a missed flush draw or a river tpgk.
I contemplated betting between $15-$20 for value on the river. At the time, I just felt he wouldn't call me with a Q.
In hindsight, I gotta make this thin value bet. My hand looks like tptk or a miss flush draw.
I checked behind and villain showed Q10o.
Bet, bet, check.
Bet flop 100%. Youll bet that with air for sure so you definitely need to bet it with KK. When you check behind youre repping a decent hand with showdown value. Getting tricky at 100nl will cost you. Straightforward, ABC TAG poker wins the bills.
Is switching the time of the sweats on Monday to 6:30 okay with you? This seems to work better for Ian, it is 5 hours later over there, so starting at 8 is really 1 am over there.
Brian,
Monday @ 6:30pm EST will work for me.
